IN our weekly online column, ALINA POLIANSKAYA looks at who’s wearing what in Camden Town.

Tao Yotee, 33, who lives in Canada, has just arrived in London for a holiday, and is pretty impressed by what she has seen of Camden Town so far. “It’s gorgeous, I didn’t expect it to be like this,” she said. “It’s so much bigger than I thought, I’m very surprised and love how lively it is.” She’s kicking off her week of sightseeing dressed in a blue tied top with white polka dots, denim shorts and black plimsolls, all from vintage shops in Canada. She has accessorised her summery outfit with a hat from Topshop, a bag from American Apparel and a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Liyan Lam, 18, from Colindale, is wearing trousers from Krisp, a crop top from H&M, some shoes from Hong Kong and a Longchamp bag. The 18-year-old student has added a choker necklace which she bagged for just £1 on the internet, and a big batch of bracelets and bands that she has collected from all over the world. “There are three from Thailand, one from the Netherlands, one from Morocco, and I just found some of them,” she said. Her best advice, when it comes to clothes shopping, is: “Work out what your best asset is and shop for it. I think mine is my stomach, so I look for lots of crop tops.”

Pierre Bourguignon is the resident DJ at Cyberdog clothes shop in Camden Market. He can be found playing trance and EDM at the futuristic fashion base. The 22-year-old, who lives in Camden, is dressed in his rather unconventional, Cyberdog-branded work uniform – a multi-coloured t-shirt with a picture of Pierre behind the decks on the back of it. He is also wearing some cut-off combat trousers and some sleek blacked-out shades, which he assures us that he can see out of. His chunky shoes, the only thing not from his workplace, are from Swear. Pierre has between 25 and 30 piercings, including in his cheeks, his nose and his chin, with some of his earrings, including a nail and an arrow, picked up from various spots in Camden Market.

Saba Zohrabbagi, 24, who is originally from Iran but lives in Totteridge, had quite a day in store: she was on her way to get her belly button pierced. She is wearing a floral-print vintage dress from a boutique in Mill Hill Broadway – a bargain at only £6 – with a pair of white shoes from New Look, and a black bag from Zara. The wild hairdo definitely adds a certain something to Saba’s look, as she said: “My crazy hair goes with my personality.” When it comes to clothes, she said: “It’s always good to go and buy something outside of what you’re comfortable with, and to push the boundaries.”

Avigail Koren, 29, has come over from Israel to visit her sister in London. The 29-year-old fashion student is dressed in clothes from shops back home, including a black top and a long brown skirt from a shop called Hagara, and brown shoes from Shoofra, accessorised with some rather stylish violet Chanel sunglasses and a Nappa rucksack. Avigail’s bright red curls really set off her look. The fashion designer in the making said that, while at the moment she is still working on her style, she hopes to specialise in clothes that are “tailored, artistic and cool”.

Rushelle Burnett, 22, from Leicester, is wearing a blue flowery dress with a gold statement necklace and bracelet from Miss Selfridge, along with some black shoes from Topshop and a black bag from River Island. Rushelle, who recently graduated from graphics and illustration at Coventry University, describes herself as a “bargain-hunter” and said that the most important thing when it comes to clothes, is to be comfortable.
